Wide Range of Loading Arms

Loading Arms

Loading arms are useful in transferring liquid or gasses from one tank to another with the help of an articulated piping system consisting of swivel joints and rigid piping for obtaining the flexibility.

With the help of a bottom loading arm or a top loading arm, it is easier to transfer to or from a rail transported tank or a truck transported tank. The need of a marine loading arm is also required for transferring to or from a barge or ship.

Top and Bottom Loading Arms

Both top and bottom loading arms made of three pipes – drop pipe, inner arm and outer arm. They can be found in sizes ranging from “2 to 6”. All these three pipes are connected by swivel joints. Such swivel joints are necessary to offer the required flexibility.

Top Loading Arm

Top loading arm is used to load/unload rail or road tankers. The loading or unloading is done using the manhole on the top of the tank. As per the nature of the product, the connection can be “open” which means that the manhole is unsealed. There are a number of accessories available to make the loading arm more effective and ergonomic such as purge, press down system, safety break valve, pneumatic up/down system, drain, top level control etc.

Bottom Loading Arm

This type of arm is used for uploading of rail/road tanker from the bottom. The location of the connection contains an influence on the pipes’ length. Similar to the top loading arm, there are many accessories available that can be fitted to the bottom loading arm to make it more effective and ergonomic.

  1. Woodfield Systems International's Petroleum product range of loading & unloading arms are specifically designed for refined fuels such as gasoline, lube oil, diesel, kerosene, naphtha and ethanol. Whether for top loading of tank trucks or rail cars there is a WSI top loading arm to suit the particular application. Whereas, for bottom loading & unloading multi compartment fuel trailers or a single compartment rail car there is a WSI bottom loading/unloading arm to suit the particular application.
